On Saturday, October 8, 2016, I had the privileged of being a guest photographer for a guided mushroom hike with the Association for Mushroom Research in Munich Germany. The hike in the Hofoldinger Forst was led by Rudi Stollner. The rain held off for most of the day and we were able to document over 30 species of mushrooms as a group.
Below is a list of some of the mushrooms that we found on our hike.
Amanita muscaria – Fly Agaric
Auricularia auricula-judae – Wood Ear
Clavulinopsis corniculata (possible)
Coprinus comatus – Shaggy Mane
Cyathus striatus – Bird’s Nest Fungus
Cystoderma amianthinum var. rugosoreticulatum
Lentinellus species (possible Lentinellus cochleatus)
Melanoleuca melaleuca (possible)
Mycena species (possible Mycena polygramma)
After our hike, we went to the Landgasthof Altwirt Faistenhaar for lunch. Rudi recommended that I try a traditional dish, which I believe is called Sülze or Sauerfleisch. It was surprisingly delicious.
It was a great experience! I look forward to visiting them again!
